Don’t Wait to Smile – Smile First and Watch Good Fortune Follow

The only rule of thumb when it comes to realizing your subconscious desires is, “Because I believe it, it will happen.” On this blog, we call this the foundation.

What you think (I’m happy spending every day loving my partner!)

Becomes your reality (I’m happy spending every day loving my partner!)

It’s a beautifully simple system that makes you wonder, “Wait, that’s really all there is to it?”

In other words,

Your thoughts come first. (I’m happy spending every day loving my partner!)
Reality follows. (I’m happy spending every day loving my partner!)

But why does such a simple and clear law seem so difficult? Because this system is the exact opposite of what we’ve been taught is “common sense.”

The old way (what most people consider normal):

Reality comes first. (The reality of the breakup and the sadness)
Thoughts based on that reality. (I really want to get back together!)
More thoughts about those thoughts. (What can I do to make this happen?)

This way puts “reality” in charge, making it king – which is the complete opposite of how your subconscious mind actually works.

Once you’ve made your decision, your subconscious mind knows it’s already done and relaxes.
It’s so chill about it, like, “Cool, now let’s have some tea.”

From your ego’s perspective, your subconscious mind seems way too laid-back to trust.

“It’s too risky to leave this to my subconscious! I need to figure out this strategy, and that approach, and this backup plan!” So your ego complicates everything with all this thinking. But in the end, nothing actually happens! (Seriously, ego, what are you even doing?)

Why the subconscious skipping steps feels so scary

When it comes to getting back together through your subconscious, I think the biggest hang-up is how it completely skips the “process.”

Traditionally, if you wanted to get back together, you’d think:

First, they’d text me
Then we’d start talking more
We’d make plans to meet
We’d actually meet up
Things would start feeling hopeful
We’d become closer friends
One day they’d say, “Let’s try again!”

Your ego was desperately mapping out this whole process.
And honestly, that’s the best-case scenario it could imagine.

But when you work with your subconscious to get back together, you don’t need any of this process.

Because remember:

Your thoughts come first. (I’m happy spending every day loving my partner!)

All you have to do is decide.

Sure, they might text you, or you might meet up, or someone might confess feelings – but the entire process is handled by your subconscious mind. You don’t need to know how it happens. It’s a system designed for easy wins.

But wait, this sounds suspicious!

It’s scary to think that all I have to do is decide “I’m happily living a loving life with my partner!”

Can it really be this simple?
Is it actually this easy?
What if it’s this straightforward and I’m the only person it doesn’t work for?

Oh, that’s terrifying.

I just can’t trust something so mysterious…

I can’t help thinking this way, but isn’t there a famous saying that talks about skipping the “process” entirely?

Yes, there is:

Fortune comes to those who smile

This saying completely skips the process and takes a “subconscious perspective.”

Smile first! When you smile, good fortune follows!

“Fortune comes to those who smile”

What’s brilliant about this saying is:

I smiled
Therefore, good fortune came

That’s the logic.
Because from an ego perspective, it would be:

Good fortune came, so now I’m smiling

Right?

“Fortune comes to those who smile”

There’s no room for ego to interfere here.

No matter how tough things seem,
No matter how challenging the situation,
No matter how anxious your heart feels,

For now, just smile.
For now, keep the corners of your mouth turned up.

Then good fortune will come.

How wonderful is that?
I’m literally doing nothing except smiling!

If you wait to smile until “good fortune comes,” then what are you supposed to do to invite that good fortune? You’d overthink everything.

It’s the same mindset that says you can’t get back together unless you go through all these complicated steps in real life.

Wondering when we’ll get back together,
Getting disappointed when they don’t call today,
Agonizing over whether I should reach out first…

When you do this, instead of smiling, you end up with a worried expression most of the time, complete with stress lines between your eyebrows.

Most importantly, when you start complicating the process like this, you’ll likely end up thinking about all the ways things could go wrong, and you’ll spend your time in a perpetually gloomy mood. What a waste!

That’s why:

Fortune comes to those who smile.

First, I choose to smile.

Anyone can do this, and it’s incredibly effective.
Studies show that just smiling can release “happiness chemicals” in your brain equivalent to eating 2,000 chocolate bars!

Never underestimate ancient wisdom.

Right now, this very moment, even if you have to force it, turn the corners of your mouth up.
Yes, exactly like that.
This is all you need to do.
It’s totally fine if it feels awkward at first.

I’ve tested this countless times, and I simply cannot stay angry while smiling (with the corners of my mouth raised).
I think “smiling” forces your brain to register: “Oh, I must be a happy person right now.”

Whenever you remember, try lifting the corners of your mouth.
Practice smiling.
Even when nothing funny is happening, practice raising those corners.

Just this simple act:

Fortune comes to those who smile.

It’s right there within your reach.
