What Does It Mean to Ignore the Ego? [YouTube Live Broadcast]

Hey there! It’s Iruru from the blog.

During a recent YouTube live stream, someone commented that they didn’t quite grasp how to ignore the ego, so I thought I’d dive deeper into this topic here on the blog.

So what exactly is the ego?

Here on the blog, we talk about manifesting your desires through your subconscious mind, where what you believe becomes your reality.

The way your subconscious works is beautifully simple. You decide what you want to manifest, and that’s it. Then you step into being the version of yourself who already has it.

Focus on the joy and happiness right in front of you, take care of what needs doing, and treasure each day as it comes. That’s the heart of what we share here.

But here’s what happens: after you’ve chosen your desire, your ego often tries to interfere.

The way I explain it here is that your ego is that automatic mental chatter that judges and interprets everything based on old memories and beliefs.

Your ego is basically those instant, automatic reactions that pop up when anything happens. Most of the time, it’s shaped by past experiences, assumptions, interpretations, and all that mental baggage. “Those things that feel so normal to me that I don’t even notice them anymore”

often trigger that ego response.

Here’s an example: imagine you see your boyfriend post a photo of himself with another woman on Instagram.

Maybe you’ve been hurt before by discovering infidelity through social media posts, and your ego immediately jumps in with “He’s with another woman! He must be cheating!”

But here’s the thing: you reached that conclusion instantly based on past hurt, and you were completely unaware that your ego was doing the talking.

We often talk about “being fused with your ego,” and that example shows exactly what that looks like.

When you’re fused with your ego, you’re making judgments purely from your own internal lens, which makes it really hard to recognize that it’s just ego at work.

How do I know what’s ego and what isn’t?

I think it’s pretty tough to separate ego from non-ego when you’re fused with it, but if you want to “manifest your desires through your subconscious,” instead of trying to figure out which thoughts are ego, it’s easier to consider any wandering thoughts that aren’t about what you want to achieve as ego.

[box01 title=”When Fused with Ego”] “I’ve decided I’m in a loving relationship with him! But he said he didn’t want to get back together when we were dating. Maybe it doesn’t matter that I want us back together. And come to think of it, he posted a photo with that cute girl on Instagram the other day. What if she’s his girlfriend now?…” [/box01]

In that example, everything before “but” is your true desire, and everything after is ego.

So just ignore that ego chatter and return to the desire you want to fulfill.

What does ignoring the ego actually mean?

When someone asks “how do I ignore the ego?” they’re really asking how to stop paying so much attention to it. The ego loves to make you overthink everything, and once one doubtful or anxious thought pops up, it creates this domino effect of more negative thinking. You might know this feeling – once you start worrying about something, the anxiety snowballs and you just can’t stop.

Ignoring the ego means breaking that chain reaction. It’s about releasing those thoughts, not getting caught up in them, and just letting them pass by. It’s like making a conscious choice to stop thinking when doubts or worries arise.

Here’s what it might look like:

[box01 title=”Ignoring the Ego”] “I’ve decided I’m in a loving relationship with him! But he said he didn’t want to get back together when we were dating.

Oh wait, the past doesn’t matter! That’s irrelevant – I’m in love with him! But now that I think about it, there was that girl who looked like his girlfriend in his Instagram post… Oh right, the present doesn’t matter either! That’s irrelevant too – I’m in love with him!” [/box01]

It could look something like that, but there’s no one right way to ignore the ego. As long as you can return to your original desire without getting stuck in those ego-driven thoughts, whatever works for you is perfect!
